In 2010, Israel and Turkey's relationship unraveled when nine Turks were killed by the Israeli military. At the time, Israel's military was intercepting a Turkish ship that was attempting to run a blockade on supplies to Gaza. Last month, in an attempt to restore relations between the two countries, Secretary of State John Kerry arrived in Turkey to meet with Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu. According to the NYTimes article, it is important for relations to be restored to help regain stability in the Middle East.
President Obama was recently in Israel, and during his visit he was able to broker a deal between the two countries to restore relations. Unfortunately, the are concerns of there being problems fulfilling the deal. Steps need to be taken by both sides to ensure the agreed upon deal is fulfilled.
