Professional Observation
My major and profession is website development. I have been doing most of my work for local business and individuals, and haven't had to do much thinking on a global scale. More recently though I did some work for a religious organization and had to take into account their beliefs and what they thought and wanted. This got me to thinking; even though I will probably not be going abroad for work or doing any work for major corporations, I will have to consider the requirements the client has beyond that of the technical aspects. Even further, I have to take into account that a website is global, and that means that I need to be precise and careful with what I do and what I put my name on. While it is surely a minority there are plenty of incidents in the Middle East, and the rest of the world, that are sparked by modern media, including the internet. As we learn more in class and get to study how different forms of media are used by the Middle East I learn more about the true power of what I do.
