Religious Intolerance in Indonesia

http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/asiapacific/indonesian-minorities-protest-religious-/631824.html

This video is about the continuing violence in Indonesia due to the lack of religious tolerance. In particular, the video discusses how the Indonesian government destroyed a church and mosque in Jakarta without reasonable cause.  After the destruction of the church, many of the local religious minority groups came together to protest. The minority religious groups have been under represented for a while in Indonesia. Many of them have been subject to harassment and violence as they try to practice their own beliefs. In order to change the cycle of violence, more needs to be done by the government, in particular the president. The religious majority has a dominating control over the religious minority in Indonesia. So much so that they are able to maintain control over the government and the country.  The minority groups are starting to get frustrated with the current system and, as seen in this video, are coming together to find an answer that will bring an end to the violence and intolerance. The Indonesian constitution does have a section on protecting the religious freedoms of its’ citizens, but the government does not uphold and protect the individuals. The video suggested that the answer should be found in discussion and talks between the government and minority groups.
