Middle East Invests in Solar Power

The chairman of the inaugural Solar Middle East Conference announces a $6.8 billion expenditure on solar projects in UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Egypt, Jordan and Morocco. Jigar Shah, the partner of a clean energy investment company, Inerjys, told Trade Arabia, "Everyone is desperate to invest in the Middle East solar industry, they are all just waiting for clear instructions from the governments in the region" (King). On February 17, Dubai will hold a three day conference in which solar technology experts urge governments to allow solar companies to harness the year-round sunshine in the region. If all goes well, the Middle East will start to increase its renewable energy production, moving away from reliance on oil and gas.

I believe that this a great opportunity for the Middle East to invest in a higher quality of living. In the United States there are thousands of efforts to reduce the amount of gases released in the air. Though, we are only one piece of the puzzle. It's comforting to know that there are other countries around the world who are starting to help contribute in making the world a better place for future generations.
