"Why would the Middle East become the cradle of civilization?"

The Middle East's geographic positioning along with its many rivers (Euphrates, Tigris, Nile, etc.) and fertile land allowed it to connect Europe, Asia and Africa, ultimately making it the cradle of civilization.
