Blog Post #1 Mali

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-21009368

The above link is an article from the BBC that describes France's recent intervention in Mali regarding a group of Islamists take over of northern Mali.  The group is called Islamic Maghreb and what worries France the most is the Al-Qaeda presence within the group.  France intervened on Friday with various air strikes and military troops moving in.  Although France recognizes the risk of intervening in the facit that they are, they maintain that letting a militant group take control is something that they won't sit around and let continue.  As a result, they will continue to keep their presence and take control back from this militant group.

"#France says full #UNSC support for #Mali intervention, wants to hand over to African troops asap, deployment's being fasttracked" - Barbara Plett (BBC News)
