Rape has become ‘significant’ part of Syrian war, says humanitarian group is the title of the article in the Washington post.

"Manu Brabo/AP -  A woman stands near fire to warm herself at a refugee camp in Azaz, Syria on Dec. 17, 2012. A report released on Monday said one of the reasons many women are fleeing the country is because of incidents of rape." This was the caption to the picture I attached the email.

This article talks about the cruel and dreadful piece of war in Syria. Most of the victims caught in the middle are women and girls who are being sexually assaulted. Family members are sometimes forced to watch them partake in this crucial act. This is becoming too common in Syria, with little to no medical attention for the victims, they become very sick resulting in death and Causing many families to flee the country. Sexually assaulted victims especially in Syria are too shameful and won't get help. Due to the conservative society in the Middle East, people don't talk about things that bring shame to oneself or family. So these woman and girls are keeping their mouths shut so they don't get attacked again for speaking out to someone. Unlike our society it's acceptable to tell your story, get help and treated for being sexually assaulted. It's just interesting to me that these women and girls keep getting attacked yet still aren't reaching out for help. I understand it has to do with their culture, but if I was being assaulted I'd know that's not right.
